The post of Constables/Lady Constables in Kolkata Police – 2024.

Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens having the following eligibility criteria for recruitment to the post of Constables/Lady Constables in Kolkata Police – 2024.
Eligibility Criteria: –
(1) Age: – The applicant must not be less than 18 (Eighteen) years old and must not be more than 30
(Thirty) years old as of 01.01.2024. The upper age limit is relaxable as follows:-
a) By 5 (five) years in case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates.
b) By 3 (three) years in case of Other Backward Classes-A and Other Backward Classes-B candidates.
c) By 3 (three) years in case of Third Gender/Transgender persons.
d) By 5 (five) years in case of Civic Volunteers serving in Kolkata Police only.
and
e) By the total number of years of completed service in case of Ex-servicemen candidates subject to
maximum age of 40 (forty) years.
Note :-
i) Third Gender/Transgender candidates belonging to OBC-A, OBC-B and Unreserved category
will get upper age relaxation by maximum 3 (three) years and the candidates belonging to
Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe will get maximum 5 (five) years of age relaxation.
ii) Civic Volunteers belonging to any category, will get maximum 5 (five) years of relaxation in
upper age limit.
2) Educational Qualifications :- The applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West
Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
3) Language : – The applicant must be able to speak, read and write in Bengali language, provided that the
provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of
Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts for whom the provisions laid down in the West Bengal Official
Language Act, 1961 (West Ben. Act XXIV of 1961) shall be applicable.
4) Home Guard personnel and Civic Volunteers serving under Kolkata Police and desirous of applying
must have completed 03 (three) years of service as on 01.01.2024.
5) Candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) must produce INCOME and ASSET
CERTIFICATE as per specified format for the Financial Year 2023-2024 or onwards issued by the
competent authority.
6) For the vacancies reserved under Sports Quota, only meritorious sports persons participated in a
competition on or after 01.01.2021 from the following disciplines may apply :-
i) Athletics [including Track and Field events], ii) Badminton, iii) Basket Ball, iv) Cricket, v) Football, vi)
Hockey, vii) Swimming, viii) Table Tennis, ix) Volley Ball, x) Tennis, xi) Weightlifting, xii) Wrestling,
xiii) Boxing, xiv) Cycling, xv) Gymnastics, xvi) Judo, xvii) Riffle Shooting, xviii) Kabaddi and xix) Khokho.
